Sunday 14th November – Drive to Kenilworth Bakery (41 Charles Street, Kenilworth)

With the AGM done and dusted for another 12 months, and COVID19 a thing of the past (kidding!!!! unfortunately) November sees a return (hopefully) to a more normal period of social activity.  This month the drive destination is the Kenilworth Bakery.

Volvo and Saab enthusiasts are asked to meet at the BP Roadhouse at Morayfield between 8:30 and 9:00 AM for a departure no later than 9:15. The initial drive will follow the Bruce highway north until the Steve Irwin Way.  We will veer left onto the Steve Irwin way and drive approximately 20 Km to Landsborough.  We will turn left through Landsborough and drive up the range towards Maleny.

Upon arrival at the top of the range, we will turn right onto the road to Montville and proceed from there to the Garden Shed Nursery and Café (342 Flaxton Drive, Flaxton) just north of north of Montville, whereupon we will stop for refreshments.  There will be time for gardening enthusiasts to explore the delights of this wonderful stopover.

We will depart Flaxton by no later than 11:30 AM.  We will drive back to Montville, turning right onto the road to Kenilworth.  We should arrive at our destination by no later than 12:15 PM if all goes well.  We have organised a talk on the history and activities of the Bakery for after lunch, which hopefully should prove of interest to those attending.  It is intended that we stay in Kenilworth until around 2:00 PM.

The return drive will take the “goat track” back to Melany (the road is bitumen all the way, albeit a little rough at times).  Those wishing to stop of in Maleny on the way back can do.  There are two choices of drive back south.  Those wishing to take the more direct route can drive back down to Landsborough, returning home via the Steve Irwin Way.  Alternately, the more adventurous amongst us can travel south from Maleny, via Woodford, back to the Bruce Highway via the D’Aguillar Highway.

All in all, the day’s activities should prove a wonderful distraction from the trials of 2020-2021.
