2021 General Meetings

General meetings are held on the first Saturday of every second month. All members are welcome to attend. Refreshments are provided.
Our meetings are held at St David’s Neighbourhood Centre, 68 Orange Grove Road, Coopers Plains.

2021 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

Let’s welcome in Spring 2021 after a long, dark, and Locked-down Winter, and jump in our Volvos, Saab’s, or whatever car you might wish to drive, and take a leisurely drive down the Warrego Highway to Toowoomba to help celebrate the 2021 Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.

We will meet at the BP Roadhouse at Haigslea from 8:15 AM for a 9:00 AM departure. From Haigslea we will follow the Warrego Highway, taking the “old” highway up the range and on into Toowoomba with an ETA of around 10:00 AM.

How we spend the day is open to the individual and collective interests of members who are in attendance.  There are many free events all over Toowoomba on the day.  Details can be found at the Festival website (www.tcof.com.au). 

The main event programmed for the weekend is the Festival of Food and Wine, to be held at Upper Queens’s Park (Cr. Margaret and Lindsay Streets). This is a costed event, and tickets will need to be pre-purchased should members wish to attend.  The Festival starts on Friday the 10th and runs through until Sunday evening.  More information is available from the Festival website (www.tcof.com.au).

There is limited parking available at Queens Park, so I suggest thought be given to where we might best park. We would appreciate it if members with local knowledge provide advice in this matter prior to departure.

Sunday’s activities commence from 10:00 AM and conclude at 9:00 PM in the evening.  Highlights will include performances by Ash Grunwald, the Beautiful Girls, and Sarah Blasko.  Should you wish to participate in the FOOD and Wine Festival, you will need to purchase a day pass for $55.00/$60.00 (Presale/Greneral). Picnic hampers are also available for purchase (these must be pre-booked and range from $90.00 thru $160.00). Note you will not be allowed to bring food and or wine into this event.

Note that there are alternative activities scheduled at other venues located throughout the city of Toowoomba on the day.  For more detailed information, I refer you to the official website at www.tcof.com.au.  Also please note that this year’s event starts on the 1st of September with activities planned for the whole to the month of September.
